Welcome…

Welcome to Considering frugal, and thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. My name is Catherine, and I am the face behind Considering frugal.

I began writing web content in 2007 under the pen name Cathleene Filmore, which you may still come across from time to time, back then, people used pen names. I sold several articles to publishers, and did some ghostwriting this way. It was a great way to pay for diapers when the kids were small!

Most of my older posts were about money saving frugal green tips while most of my newer posts focus on shopping local, and rants about our new home in Wyoming. I recently merged another blog I called Homeschool Arizona. I kept this blog for the first few years that my kids were in school, but we have since moved to Wyoming and transitioned to traditional school. If you are a homeschooler you might still enjoy those posts.

I also published a devotional for Kindle called “The Blessings Book.” It was compiled during the 2008 recession when I took a lot of comfort from that particular book of the Bible. I have added updates in the book to include our journey to Wyoming, and where we are now!  You can buy the book on my products page!

Here in Wyoming, I spent quite some time working for Big Brothers Big Sisters! I have also served on downtown committees and boards, built fundraisers, and I enjoy teaching at our local community college.

Two of the annual fundraisers I had the privilege of creating during that time were the Summer Skateboard Deck Design Contest and The Great Cheyenne Bed Race. Here are some fun pictures of our first year! I was also proud to be on a local board that planned, and produced Chey-fy Comic Festival.

At the end of 2019, I was honored to partner with my good friend Tara Wilson to start an estate liquidation business! Through Eclectic Estates we conduct estate sales. It is a great business, and I can’t wait to see where we go in 2020!

This is simply my recommendation, because the product or business is one of my personal favorites, you are of our own free will to decline or purchase from these business.

Some things that make me happy are…

A good hair day, a new mascara, new boots, honeybees, Wyoming, and hit country. Specifically Dirks Bentley, Lady A, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and LOCASH – they’re from Kokomo, Indiana, not too far from my hometown.  I grew up on the gravel roads they sing about. They understand what I mean when I say I grew up in the movie Footloose – literally.

Just a few of my favorite foods are pulled pork, steak, coconut shrimp, sweet tea; honey – we call it liquid gold, Jello cake, and liquid cheese. Yes, I said liquid cheese.

I’m kind of a beer snob – I like Porters and Stouts best, but I will always drink Fat Tire in a pinch. Death by Coconut Porter, Ivan the Terrible and Milk Stouts are my favorites.

I also like lavender, the smell of beeswax candles, Richie’s smolder, Chloe’s dance moves and Richard all around.

My favorite movies; the one’s I can watch on repeat – My Big Fat Greek Wedding, because it reminds me of family, New in Town, it reminds me of growing up in the Midwest, and This is Forty, because it kinda makes me okay with being 38.

Thank you again for stopping by. Please follow me on Facebook and Pinterest or subscribe to my blog so you can be sure to get the most updated information and links! I would love to link on LinkedIn as well.
