Considering frugal

There are several ways to save money on haircuts and salon treatments and even a few ways to get them for free.

Locks of Luv

If you have long hair and you’re looking to change to a shorter haircut, donate your hair to Locks of Luv. Your hair has to be at least 10 inches long. Most hair salons offer this option; just ask your salon if they participate, if they do, they will give you a free haircut. If it is your birthday, Sundrops Nail Spot will give you a free birthday manicure and the Tan Factory will give you one free tanning session.

Coupons

JC Penny salon is affordable and you can pay more or less depending on the experience level of the stylist you choose; find coupons at Delighted; find coupons for Little Chops at Merchant Circle.

Not only does Fantastic Sam’s offer great coupons through the mail, in the newspaper and online, but they also have a free punch card program. If you have a family of five this adds up to a free haircut every other visit. You can also follow Fantastic Sam’s on Facebook for coupons and money saving sales ads. Watch the door carefully at your favorite Fantastic Sam’s as each salon posts private deals seasonally throughout the year. Deals like, “get a free cut with a full price color” or Two for One Tuesday.”

Local Beauty Schools

Patronize one of the Phoenix area beauty schools for a substantial discount on retail. If you are nervous ask for a student that is just about ready to graduate. And even if you don’t want to venture in for a haircut or perm, you might consider having your nails done or a less risky spa treatment.
